4Lyn is a nu metal/crossover thrash band from Hamburg, Germany.

4Lyn began their career as Headtrip in 1995 as high schoolers. They recorded demos and played locally, and in 2000 a gig at the Ohrenschmaus Festival in Hamburg got them attention from label scouts. “4Lyn” is an acronym of sorts; 4 is the number of band members, and LYN stands for “loud young nobodies”. They released their debut self-titled record on Universal Records subsidiary Motor Music in 2001, and toured with Papa Roach, Thumb, Therapy?, Cosmotron, and Dredg. They recorded their sophomore effort, Neon, in Demark, then toured throughout central Europe. They left Motor Music to sign with Edel Music for their third release, Take it as a Compliment, issued in 2004. In 2005 they wrote a theme song entitled “Go Sea Devils” for the Hamburg Sea Devils, a football team. 2007 saw the released of their self-produced album, “Compadres”.

Their most recent album, “Hello (For You I’m Dying)” was released in January 2008. As a gift to loyal fans, the band released a live album, “Live In Hamburg”, which can only be purchased through the band’s official website.

As of May 2008, a statement on the band’s official website confirmed the departure of Rene Knupper, who left the band to pursue “other life experiences”. The departure was amicable and he remains friends with the band.

Impending Doom – The Serpent Servant

41

Impending Doom is a five-piece Christian Brutal Deathcore band from the Riverside/Corona area of California.

Brook Reeves and Manny Contreras started the band in 2005 with ex members Chris Forno, Isaac Bueno, and Jon. After releasing the The Sin and Doom of Godless Men EP, Greg Pewthers joined on third guitar. Later, Jon left the band and David Sittig was added to the line-up. Andy Hegg later took the place of Bueno and the band recorded the album Nailed. Dead. Risen.. Forno quit the band in 2007, and the band has since used two guitarists. Due to Andy Hegg’s dedication to his soccer scholarship, Impending Doom has had to use fill-in drummers on their tours. Since then touring drummer Chad Blackwell became the official drummer for the band, and with that the band also split ways with Greg Pewthers on good terms and have added Cory Johnson to the line-up.

The group signed to Facedown Records in January 2007, and their debut release for the label, Nailed. Dead. Risen., reached number 46 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. The record has received generally positive reviews. The group embarked on a tour of the United States to support the album in autumn 2007, including dates with Dead to Fall, Winds of Plague and With Dead Hands Rising.

The band refers to its style of Christian metal as “Gorship” – a portmanteau of gore and worship. The band also clarify on their MySpace blog that “Gorship” is their way of worshiping God through their gore sounding music; not worshiping “gore” as some are led to believe. Impending Doom released their second album, The Serpent Servant, on March 31, 2009.

Hollywood Undead – Swan Song (Album)

1

Hollywood Undead is an American rap rock band from California, formed in 2005. The band members perform in individual masks in order to maintain an air of mystery. This originated from the members’ MySpace profile which they filled with pictures of themselves in hockey masks.

The band originated in 2005 from a song titled “The Kids” that Deuce and J-Dog posted on the band’s Myspace profile to positive reviews, leading them to form the group Hollywood Undead with their friends Johnny 3 Tears, Charlie Scene, Funny Man, Da Kurlzz and Shady Jeff. Shady Jeff later left, leaving the band with only six members. In their first nine weeks on MySpace they had almost a million plays and by 2006 they were said to be leading MySpace’s top unsigned artists list with over 8 million plays. By November 2008, the band had over 440,000 friends on MySpace. They made their live debut in August 2008 at the Virgin Mobile Festival after winning 285,000 votes, over half the total, in a Book the Band contest against four other bands. Their popular song “Undead” is featured on the Madden NFL 09 soundtrack and was released as an official single on August 19, 2008, making it the second single from Swan Songs. Their song “Young” is featured as one of the 20 bonus downloadable tracks in the music video game Rock Band 2. “Undead” is also featured in a trailer for the new G.I. Joe movie G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009). Their song “Young” is also featured in a recent Velvet Assassin trailer. Currently, they are scheduled to perform Sunday, May 3 at the Bamboozle Festival.

The band spent nearly three years working on their first album. They first signed a record contract with Myspace Records in 2005 but they left the label after the label tried to censor their first album. They then signed a contract with A&M/Octone Records and their first album, Swan Songs was released on September 2, 2008 and reached #22 on the Billboard 200 in its first week of release, selling 21,000 copies. Their first album Swan Songs will be released by Polydor Records on May 18, 2009 in the United Kingdom with 2 bonus tracks.

Scar Symmetry – Holographic Universe

Scar Symmetry is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Avesta. They are currently signed to Nuclear Blast records.

Formed in April 2004, Scar Symmetry came together during the band Altered Aeon’s recording session at Jonas Kjellgren’s Black Lounge Studios. That same month, the band recorded a demo for the song “Seeds of Rebellion” which helped the band get a recording contract with Cold Records (a subsidiary of Metal Blade Records).

In July 2005, the band entered Black Lounge Studios to begin recording their debut album, Symmetric in Design. They followed it up by playing festivals in Europe, as well as touring with Soilwork, Hypocrisy, and One Man Army.

In June 2006, the band signed a new record deal with Nuclear Blast records. Eight months after the release of Symmetric In Design the band started recording their follow-up, Pitch Black Progress. The band again followed up their recording by touring, this time with Communic for the Waves of Pitch Black Decay Tour 2006 throughout Europe, and they toured North America with melodic death metal pioneers Dark Tranquillity and The Haunted. The song “The Illusionist” began receiving air-play on MTV2’s Headbangers Ball. In September of 2007, the band embarked on another North American tour with headliners Katatonia, Insomnium, and Swallow the Sun, the “Live Consternation Tour.”

The band’s third album, Holographic Universe, was released on June 20, 2008. Following the release, Scar Symmetry did not embark on tours and released a statement 11 September 2008, announcing that they had parted ways with vocalist Christian Älvestam, due to touring conflicts and creative differences. On 6 October, they announced the replacements for Christian Alvestam: they will continue with two singers, Roberth Karlsson (growls) and Lars Palmqvist (clean vocals).

Static-X – Cult Of Static – 2009

Cult of Static is the sixth studio album by Static-X, and was released on March 17, 2009. The album’s first single “Stingwray” was released and made available on the band’s myspace page, on February 17, 2009. The title is a reference to lead singer Wayne Static’s wife Tera Wray and her Corvette Stingray.[1] Though this will be the first single for this album, one of the songs, “Lunatic”, was released on the Punisher: War Zone soundtrack. The song is based partially on a warrior, similar to the Punisher character and was re-recorded for the album to feature a guitar solo by Megadeth leader Dave Mustaine. The album was produced by John Travis, who also produced Static-X’s previous album Cannibal. Stingwray is available on iTunes and on Static-X’s myspace. This is also the first Static-X album without a title track, and the second to not have one of the ‘Otsego’ songs on it.

So far it is the Static-X album that has garnered the most positive reviews. The album debuted at #16 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, making it the band’s highest charting album since 2001’s More

Onslaught – Welcome To Dying

Onslaught are an English thrash metal band from Bristol, England. Initially active from 1983 to 1991, they reformed in 2004. The band initially drew influence from the second wave punk rock bands such as Discharge and The Exploited, and then adopted a straight forward thrash metal sound.

Origins

Onslaught were formed in 1983 in Bristol, England by guitarist Nige Rockett and drummer Steve Grice. Joined by vocalist Jase Pope and bassist Paul Hill, a demo was recorded and released later that year by this line up.

Jase Pope and Paul Hill were soon to be replaced by Roge Davies and Paul Davies respectively. The subsequent line-up recorded an EP, What Lies Ahead, in 1983.More

The most popular song is “welcome to dying” taken from the album in search of sanity

Lyrics to Welcome To Dying :
As time slips by
I awaken from my sleep
Too blind to see
That tomorrow’s just a dream
I fear no pain
As I reach toward the sky
Immortal words
Was I really born to die

My destiny
Please release me from this hell
I’m locked inside
Cannot break the broken spell

Welcome to dying
Welcome to dying
Now say your last goodbyes

The darkness dies
But the dawn it brings no light
In life or death
Our existence is a fight
In sight of end
Let me die leave me in peace
A slave to life
Break the chains and set me free

My destiny
Please release me from this hell
I’m locked inside, locked inside
Cannot break the broken spell

Welcome to dying
Welcome to dying
Now say your last goodbyes

Death is spreading like disease
Life I cannot see
Fate a shadow blackening my soul
Life holds nothing for me now
Death so let it be
Fate is something far beyond control

Welcome to dying
Welcome to dying
Now say your last goodbyes

Before my eyes
Flashing memories of the past
I lie in wait
Could these thoughts now be my last
Time fade away
Have I wasted all these years
As air grows cold
For the end is drawing near

My destiny
Please release me from this hell
I’m locked inside, locked inside
Cannot break the broken spell

Welcome to dying
Welcome to dying
Now say your last goodbyes

Ratt – Dancing Undercover

Ratt is a American glam metal band that formed in San Diego and enjoyed significant commercial success in the 1980s. The band is most notable for their songs “Round and Round,” “Wanted Man,” “Lay It Down,” “You’re in Love” and “Back For More.” Though the group lost popularity in the following decade, Ratt has been recognized as instrumental in the formation of the early 1980s Los Angeles hard rock and glam metal scene.

The band has sold an estimated 16 million records in the U.S. while worldwide album sales are approximated at over 30 million. VH1 slotted the band at #79 on its “100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock”.[1] Their 7th studio album is due to be released sometime in 2009.[2]

Musical style

Ratt’s music is influenced by 1970s hard rock and glam rock bands such as Aerosmith, Sweet, Led Zeppelin, and Kiss, They fused this with heavy metal influences from the likes of Van Halen and Judas Priest.

Though they later incorporated more of a blues-rock sound into their music, the band was one of the first glam metal style groups that appeared in the early 1980s in California. Their image bore similarities to that of Rough Cutt, which had several members who where previously in Mickey Ratt, which became Ratt. More
