Red Hot Chili Peppers

Author: Filemp3  //  Category: Rock/Pop

Red Hot Chili Peppers are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1983. For most of its existence, the band has consisted of vocalist Anthony Kiedis, guitarist John Frusciante, bassist Michael “Flea” Balzary, and drummer Chad Smith. The band’s varied musical style has fused traditional rock and funk with various elements of heavy metal, punk rock and psychedelic rock.

In addition to Kiedis and Flea, the group originally featured guitarist Hillel Slovak and drummer Jack Irons. Slovak, however, died of a heroin overdose in 1988, resulting in Irons resigning.[1] Irons was replaced briefly by former Dead Kennedys drummer D. H. Peligro before the band found a permanent replacement in Smith, while Slovak was replaced by up-and-coming guitarist Frusciante. This lineup recorded the band’s fourth and fifth albums, Mother’s Milk (1989) and Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991).

Blood Sugar Sex Magik became a pivotal record for the band; it thrust them into the mainstream with over thirteen million copies sold. Frusciante grew uncomfortable with the band’s success and left abruptly in 1992. Kiedis, Flea, and Smith employed Dave Navarro of Jane’s Addiction for their subsequent album, One Hot Minute (1995). However, it failed to match the critical acclaim of Blood Sugar Sex Magik and sold fewer than half the copies of its predecessor. Shortly afterwards, Navarro departed the band due to creative differences.

Frusciante, during his time away from the band in 1998, completed rehabilitation, rejoining the band at Flea’s request. The reunited foursome returned to the studio to record Californication (1999), which went on to sell fifteen million units worldwide, becoming their most successful album to date. It was followed three years later with By the Way (2002), which continued their success. In 2006, the group released the double album Stadium Arcadium. The band has won seven Grammy Awards. They have sold over fifty million albums worldwide, have had seven singles in the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 (including three singles in the Top 10), have had five #1 singles on the Mainstream Rock charts, and a record eleven #1 singles on the Modern Rock charts.[2]

Papa Roach

Author: Filemp3  //  Category: Hardrock/Metal

Papa Roach is a four-piece alternative metal band from Vacaville, California. They broke into the mainstream with their three times platinum major-label debut album Infest (2000). The group’s success continued with later releases Lovehatetragedy (2002) and Getting Away with Murder (2004). The group’s fourth major album, The Paramour Sessions, was released on September 12, 2006. Their new album, Metamorphosis, will be released in March 2009.

Papa Roach’s early years

The formation of Papa Roach began in January of 1993, when Jacoby Shaddix (vocals) and Dave Buckner (drums) met on the Vacaville High School football field during an intense match, where the two ended up talking about music. They were later joined by Will James (bass) and Ben Luther (trombone) completing Papa Roach’s first ever line-up. They decided to enter the school’s talent show, where they performed a cover version of Jimi Hendrix’s famous song, Fire. They ultimately didn’t win the contest. The band’s name comes from Shaddix’s step-grandfather, Howard William Roatch, who was nicknamed Papa Roach. Roatch committed suicide in 2006. The band pay homage to him with The Paramour Sessions and during live performances of the song “Roses On My Grave”.[3][4] Ben Luther was replaced by Robert Delorenzi (guitar) from nearby Vanden High School. Jerry was introduced to the band through his girlfriend, who was a fan. By this time, Papa Roach were practicing everyday in Dave’s garage and trying to secure local gigs.

In 1994, Papa Roach recorded their first 7 track EP titled Potatoes For Christmas. David Buckner was temporarily replaced by Ryan Brown, as Buckner was spending the year in Seattle studying art. One year later, they recorded a 2 track promo at Sound Farm Studios titled Caca Bonita. By this time Dave Buckner was back. To keep progressing as a band, they replaced Will James, who had become heavily involved in a church summer camp, by Tobin Esperance, because James’ absence would limit the band’s summer practicing and touring. As Esperance had been with the band as a roadie for a while, the transition was an easy one.

In 1997, the band produced their first full-length album, entitled Old Friends from Young Years. Still touring heavily, they supported bands such as Incubus, Powerman 5000, Hed PE, Snot, Far and Static-X.

In 1998, they released a 5 track EP titled 5 Tracks Deep. It sold more than 1,000 copies in its first month of release.[citation needed] One year later, they produced another EP, which would end up being their last independent release, titled Let ‘Em Know. This was seen to be Papa Roach’s best independent effort as a band, highlighting their distinctive sound. Its success caught the attention of Warner Brothers, who financed the production of a 5 track promo/demo CD. The unreleased disc included the songs “Infest“, “Last Resort“, “Broken Home“, “Dead Cell”, and “She Loves Me Not” – the first four would later feature on their Infest album, and the last on Lovehatetragedy. In the end, Warner Brothers elected not to sign them, based on a perceived lack of talent presented in their earlier musical efforts. Soon after, Shaddix was contacted by Dreamworks Records offering the band a recording contract. Papa Roach made it into the mainstream on the back of their major label debut album, Infest, and the hit single, “Last Resort“.

Complete Album Of ENYA

Author: Filemp3  //  Category: Hip/Hop, R&B/Soul, Rock/Pop

Enya (born Eithne Patricia Ní Bhraonáin)[5] on 17 May 1961, Gaoth Dobhair, County Donegal, Ireland, sometimes presented in the media as Enya Brennan, is an Irish singer, instrumentalist and composer. She is Ireland’s best-selling solo artist and is officially the country’s second biggest musical export (after U2).[6] Her works have earned her four Grammy Awards and an Academy Award nomination, and she is also famous for performing in 10 different languages during her lengthy career. Enya is an approximate transcription of how Eithne is pronounced in her native Irish, in the Donegal dialect. [7]

Enya was born in Gweedore (officialy named Gaoth Dobhair), County Donegal, Ireland in 1961 to a musical family, the sixth of nine children.[8] Her grandparents were in a band that played throughout Ireland, her father was the leader of the Slieve Foy Band before opening a pub, and her mother played in a dance band and later taught music at the Gweedore Comprehensive School. Enya attended Loreto Community School Milford Co. Donegal. Enya has four brothers and four sisters, several of whom formed the band An Clann As Dobhar in 1968. They renamed the band Clannad in the 1970s.

In 1980, Enya worked with Clannad, the band composed of her siblings Máire (Moya), Pól, and Ciarán and twin uncles Noel and Padraig Duggan. Enya played the keyboard and provided backing vocals on their album Crann Úll (1980), although she was not officially a member of the group until the 1981 release Fuaim, when she appeared on the cover. In 1982, shortly before Clannad became famous for “Theme From Harry’s Game,” producer and manager Nicky Ryan left the group and Enya joined him to start her own solo career. Enya then formed her own recording studio, named “Aigle”, which is French for “Eagle”.

Solo career

Enya recorded two solo instrumental songs called “An Gaoth Ón Ghrian” (”The Solar Wind”) and “Miss Clare Remembers” that were released on the 1983 album Touch Travel. She was first credited as Enya (as opposed to Eithne) for writing some of the music for the 1984 movie The Frog Prince, which was released on a soundtrack album of the same title. Another early appearance on record followed in 1987, where Enya provided spoken (not sung) vocals on Sinéad O’Connor’s debut album, The Lion and the Cobra. The title of the album is a partial English translation of Enya’s Gaelic reading of Psalms 91:13 (KJV: “Thou shalt tread on the lion and the adder . .”) on the song “Never Get Old”.

Enya was contracted to provide music for the soundtrack of the 1986 BBC television documentary The Celts. The music she produced was featured on her first solo album, Enya (1987), but it attracted little attention at the time. The B-Side single “Eclipse” is actually a reversed and modified version of Enya’s song “Deireadh An Tuath”, from this 1987 album Enya.[9] The song “Boadicea”, also from this album, would later be sampled by The Fugees on their single “Ready or Not” (1996), causing a brief stir because the group neither sought permission from Enya nor gave her credit initially, and by Mario Winans, who did give her credit (the Winans track, “I Don’t Wanna Know” which features a rap by P. Diddy and is officially credited to all three artists, became Enya’s highest charting single in the US, when it peaked at #2 on the Hot 100 in 2004).[8]

The Cranberries

Author: Filemp3  //  Category: Alt/Indie, Rock/Pop

The Cranberries are an Irish rock band formed in Limerick in 1990 under the name The Cranberry Saw Us, later changed by vocalist Dolores O’Riordan. Although widely associated with alternative rock, the band’s sound also incorporates rock, post-punk and pop rock elements.

The Cranberries rose to international fame in the 1990s with their debut album, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?, which became a high commercial success and sold over five million copies in the United States. The group was one of the most successful rock acts of the ’90s and sold over 12.5 million albums in the United States alone. The band has achieved four top 20 albums on the Billboard 200 chart (Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?, No Need To Argue, To the Faithful Departed and Bury the Hatchet)[1] and eight top 20 singles on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart (”Linger“, “Dreams“, “Zombie“, “Ode to My Family“, “Ridiculous Thoughts, “Salvation“, “Free To Decide” and “Promises”).[1]

Origins and mainstream success

Noel and Mike Hogan, two brothers from Limerick formed the band with drummer Fergal Lawler in 1990.[2] The band was originally named The Cranberry Saw Us.[2] The lead singer at that time was a friend of theirs named Niall Quinn.[2] The remaining band members placed an advertisement for a female singer. Dolores O’Riordan responded to the advertisement and auditioned by writing lyrics and melodies to some existing demos.[2] When she returned with a rough version of “Linger,” the group hired her.[2]

After they hired O’Riordan they recorded their home-made demo tape. They made 300 copies.[2] After the original run of 300 copies sold out, the group changed their name to the Cranberries and sent another demo tape, which featured early versions of both “Linger” and “Dreams,” to record companies throughout the UK.[2] The tape was made at Xeric studios, which was run by Pearse Gilmore, who would later become their manager.[2]

The demo tape earned the attention of both the UK press and record industry and there soon was a bidding war between major British record labels. Eventually, the group signed with Island Records.[2] The Cranberries headed into the studio with Gilmore as their producer to record their first single, “Uncertain.” The title proved to become controversial, as the band did indeed sound ill on the single, leading to poor reviews in the press. This lead to tension between the group and Gilmore.[2] Before they were scheduled to record their debut in 1992, the band nearly broke up because of the tension. Instead, the band outraged with the results severed all relations with Gilmore, hired Geoff Travis as their new manager, and hired Stephen Street, who had previously worked with The Smiths, as their new producer.[2]

The Cranberries’ debut album, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?, was released in the spring of 1993, followed by a single of “Dreams.” Neither the album or the single gained much attention, nor did a second single, “Linger“, until the band embarked on a tour, catching the attention of MTV, which put their videos into heavy rotation. Although singles-wise in the UK, Linger was released first in February, 1993 peaking at 74, the single was latter re-issued in February, 1994 peaking at 14 and was followed by Dreams released in May 1994 peaking at #27) [3].

O’Riordan married the band’s tour manager, Don Burton, in July, 1994.[2] The marriage, as well as the group’s videos, emphasized the singer as the focal point of the band. O’Riordan’s position in the group continued to rise with the fall release of the group’s second album, No Need to Argue. Boasting a slightly harder, more streamlined sound, yet still produced by Stephen Street, the record debuted at number six on the US charts and eventually outsold its predecessor; within a year it went triple platinum, spawning the number one modern rock hit “Zombie” and the number 11 “Ode to My Family on the modern rock tracks.[1] In 1995, they continued with a tour, and they released two more singles “I Can’t Be With You” and “Ridiculous Thoughts“. To date the album has sold very well. It went 5x platinum in Canada, platinum in Switzerland, and seven times platinum in the United States.[4][5][6] More
